Fortnite Loot Llama

We all know how Amazon likes to send big boxes with little items. Well the other day I was sat looking at a pile of boxes ready to go out for recycling and thought "there must be something creative I could make out of these with my son". Ayaan absolutely loves Fortnite, so we decided to craft the Fortnite Loot Llama together.

We decided to take a free hand approach based off of a picture we had found on the internet. We started by drawing out the outline on a piece of card. Our philosophy is "If it's not perfect, no problem" it just means you will have your very own unique version of the Llama. The most important part is it's long low hanging jaw, to give it a dumb look.

Once you have something you're happy with, cut out the two shapes you have drawn, the more symmetrical the better! It did take us a little while to cut the cardboard but we wanted to make sure the two sides were as similar as possible. I cut the first showing Ayaan as I went and then he cut the second by himself. Quite to my surprise they turned out almost identical :-)

Next, in order to give it a 3D look, we cut little strips of cardboard with a width of about 10 ~ 15 cm. The length can vary but the idea is you will need to cover outline the edge of one of your llama shapes. Cut and glue the strips to surround the edges for ONE FACE with hot glue gun.

After that you can glue the other half of the body as well as cutting out a hole in the back to hide away your loot. Ayaan wants to keep his personal sweets in it!

We plan to decorate it further in the future by adding coloured post-it notes and big googly eyes.
